Cultivating Change Through Giving

We acknowledge that our work takes place on the unceded territory of the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation, in Tiohtià:ke (Montreal), a gathering place for many First Nations. We aim to nurture relationships grounded in reciprocity, respect, and trust by listening to Indigenous partners, recognizing expertise rooted in lived experience, and using our resources to help create conditions for safety and healing.

  • In Montreal, Canada, we invest in organizations working to reduce poverty, promote access to healthcare & education, and address homelessness.

  • PFF partners propose innovative solutions to some of Canada’s most pressing social issues. We are also proud to support Indigenous-led and Indigenous-serving organizations in their efforts to offer culturally safe and empowering programming to urban and Northern communities.

  • Our partners work in communities around the world, with a particular focus on West Africa, to address economic and social challenges using locally driven and rights-based approaches.

Beyond our grantmaking locally, nationally and internationally, PFF is always learning how to be a better partner for social change. We work hand in hand with our partners to build vibrant communities and promote equal opportunities for all. We invest in people, organizations and ideas that empower marginalized groups in Canada and globally.

    We provide flexible and multi-year funding to our partners which has proven to be key in generating conditions that allow organizations to effectively design, implement and evaluate their programs.

  • Relationships and Trust

    We deeply value our close, collaborative relationships with our partners - built on trust, mutual learning and exchange - and we strive to stay attuned to the needs of the sector and adapt with agility and intention.

  • Diversified portfolio

    We support a variety of organizations of all sizes, a mix of innovative ideas and pilot projects with interventions that have demonstrated positive results and are ready to be scaled, adapted and replicated.

  • Core mission funding

    We aim to boost community resilience and capacity by investing in core operations, in areas identified by our partners, ranging from human resources and financial management to fundraising and coalition building.

  • LI-BER-T House

    LI-BER-T House is a by-and-for community organization in Pointe-Claire, Quebec, supporting women in their recovery journeys after completion of a substance abuse treatment program.

    LI-BER-T House offers secure housing and a holistic and personalized model to accompany women during their reintegration, with the goal of escaping the vicious cycles of addiction, poverty, and criminalization.

  • The Roundhouse Café Program

    The Roundhouse Café program, supported by L’Itinéraire, provides an inclusive and safe space for marginalized community members, with a specific focus on supporting Indigenous individuals. Located in the heart of Montreal, the Roundhouse Café program combines employability, reconciliation, inclusion, and empowerment. This innovative project helps break the cycle of isolation, restores dignity, and fosters pride.

  • RefuSHE

    RefuSHE is a locally-led organization based in Nairobi, Kenya, that supports unaccompanied and separated refugee girls, young women, and their children. RefuSHE’s holistic and traumainformed model provides safe housing, mental health support, educational programming, vocational training, and case management support to refugees in Nairobi.

  • Tostan

    Established in 1991 and headquartered in Dakar, Senegal, Tostan empowers rural and remote African communities to drive positive social transformation and sustainable development through a holistic, human rights-based education program. The initiative has reached over five million people across eight African countries.

  • Kanien’kehá:ka Onkwawén:na Raotitióhkwa Language and Cultural Center

    The Kanien’kehá:ka Onkwawén:na Raotitióhkwa Language and Cultural Center (KORLCC) in Kahnawà:ke works to preserve and promote the Mohawk language, culture, and traditions. Its new, community-designed Cultural Center will be a vibrant hub for language revitalization, education, arts, and heritage, welcoming both locals and visitors from Montréal and beyond.

  • FOXY (Fostering Open eXpression among Youth)

    FOXY is a non-profit organization active since 2012. Initially a project of the Institute for Circumpolar Health Research since 2012, FOXY focuses on promoting sexual health and healthy relationships among young people in the Northwest Territories, Yukon, and Nunavut. In 2014, FOXY received the Arctic Inspiration Prize, which helped expand its programs, including the development of SMASH (Strength, Masculinities, and Sexual Health) for young men.
